Things to feel good about...

1. I had recently got out of the habit of weighing myself each morning, so imagine my surprise when I weigh myself this morning and find that I am 239.8! This is ALMOST the lowest I have been since the beginning of this weight loss meander.

I had to weigh myself twice just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating! Clearly Tony's inspirational powers are stronger than I thought!

2. I didn't wake up jettisoning blood out of my 'nether regions'! Hope you are feeling better soon Chris!

3. My wife begins her running 'career' tonight! She embarks on a proper 5K run for the first time! Go girl (pictures tomorrow). I am so excited for her!

I am great at encouraging others but not so great at encouraging myself...time to find my own race maybe!

4. My friend AB came second in a writing competition! Whoo! Well done, you richly deserve the recognition. The story is great too - have a read here.

5. I took this photograph a few weeks ago, and every time I look at it, I realise just how damn lucky I am! Nothing else really matters. It's a dad thing, if you don't own one of these, you probably wont understand...

Behold the son of FatBloke!

I work in IT and it can be a thankless task sometimes. No-one ever talks to us unless something is broken - just like you don't phone BT to say thank you because your phone is working today!

But waking up "jettisoning blood out of my 'nether regions'" comes under the same heading I think.

I'm not sure why the photo is such a bonus... did it win you a prize somewhere?

I should have pointed out (now corrected) that the photo is of my son and makes me realise that most of what I worry about is inconsequential bollocks and HE is the most important thing I have to worry about, his happiness and his safety.

Hey look we're weight buddy's. 239.8 all around.

Congrats on getting fired up again.

You're son is adorable. It's the same reason I'm doing all this.

Wow, that's spooky, I hadn't noticed our weights are identical!

Maybe it's like women you live together syncronising their menstral cycle or something..maybe not though, ugh!

Wow, he is an old soul with those eyes.... I can see why you want to lose weight and live a long time.... if nothing, just for him.

And congrats to your wife!

Thanks for reading my story F.B!!! You are a good Pal.

Congrats on the lower weight--well done!

Your son is precious. That is the sweetest picture. My boy is 22 months old and has the warmest, funniest spirit. My husband was just saying today, that in the movie Hook, Peter's wife tells him he's missing out on his kids-- and that "we have this small window of time when they WANT to be with us." I'm going to remind myself of that the next time my kids want me when I think it's more important to be cleaning or cooking or working--it's clearly not.

BTW, thanks for the posts in the past about AB. I was reading her blog this weekend and was inspired. Am looking forward to reading her story.

Wanted to make a comment on your previous day's post-- about not looking as good as you think you should with the weight you've lost so far...

There is something freaky that happens with this weight loss thing. The first 25 or 30 pounds on me did NOTHING for the way I looked. It was only when I had lost 35 pounds and dropped almost 3 sizes before people noticed. Before I looked better. Seriously, if I had gained back 5 pounds around that 35 pounds lost mark, I would have looked worse again. So, don't give up hope! You are probably only 5 or 10 pounds away from looking how you THINK you should look with the weight off. It's weird, but true.
